City Clerk notified the Council in December 2024 about dates for the Election
Read the email above from the City Clerk to the Council on December 21, 2024. Barry repeatedly has told the public that the November 2026 date is required by law. This is true, but the petition also provides for the election to be held at the next "City or Town election".
March 13, 2025, City Clerk Confirms that the Axon referendum election could be held as early as November 2025.
The Mayor's Administrative assistant sent an email to the City Clerk, asking when was the next available date for the Axon referendum election. The Clerk responded, November 2025.
After the Council refused to act back in January 2025, they had already missed the deadline for the July 2025 election.

April 7,2025, Mayor sent an email requesting to cancel the regular scheduled 4/8 meeting and replace it with a Work Study on Axon. Because the Legislature was going to meet on 4/10/25 to vote on Axon bill SB1543.

Barry sent a response to the City Clerk directing him to poll the Council members to reject the Mayor's meeting and resume the regularly scheduled meeting

After the Clerk polled Barry's Council bloc, the Mayor's proposed meeting was rejected. This was a very bad decision because on 4/10 and 4/15/25, the Az State Legislature passed the Axon bill

September 11, 2025, Barry tells the clerk: "Poll Council to remove item 2" from the agenda.
The Mayor stated that the purpose of the Work Study was to "authorize the Clerk to prepare a Call of Election related to the Axon referendum for May 10, 2026."
As a result, Barry's faction prevented the voters from having an election earlier than November 2026. Why did he do that? To use this issue in his re election campaign.

The Clerk responds to Barry reporting that 4 members of the Council voted to remove Item 2, the Mayor's Work Study session.
On a side note, this action of "polling the Council" occurred repeatedly during 2025. That action was deemed to be a violation of the open meeting law, after it was reported to the Arizona Attorney General.
